The Department of Economics is a part of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Haifa. It offers BA, MA, and Ph.D. programs as well as a joint MSc. program with the Technion. The top BA students can simultaneously start an MA, while our top MA students routinely move on to a Ph.D. Our graduates have gone on to be professors at top universities in the US and Israel and hold leading roles in industry and government.

Members of the Department are active in a wide range of research areas including Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Policy Analysis, Economic Growth and Inequality, Behavioral Economics and Finance, Game Theory, Social Choice, Law and Economics, and Public Economics. Department members publish in the top economics journals and present their research worldwide. The Department also has an active seminar series that brings many of the world's leading researchers to present their research.
